Our Mission

It is our mission to provide a means of identification through DNA analysis to the men and women who risk their lives as firefighters.

Our Purpose

It is our purpose of the National Firefighter's DNA Registry to ensure that no fallen firefighters go unidentified.

In the World Trade Center disaster of September 11th, many of the firefighters had to be identified by DNA testing. The DNA profiles determined for the victims had to be compared to family members who were already facing tremendous grief. The goal of the National Firefighter's DNA Registry is to never test a grieving family member so that they can find out if it is their loved one who has perished. The registry will serve as a voluntary database of firefighter profiles that can be compared directly to a fallen firefighters.
